The Cottage
Cocoa Cottage is located in the beautiful Roseau Valley, in a small hilltop village called Shawford. We are about 10 minutes away from Roseau.
Cocoa Cottage is a home away from home. We offer 6 handcrafted rooms and a large Tree House. Have a look at our Accommodation page for more details.
You can enjoy our airy common living room, socialize in our dining area and lounge, relax in our outside patio, or go into our garden. We prepare fresh and delicious breakfasts, picnics, and dinners, made from local ingredients from the farmers market, from our garden, or from our partner farmers. We offer typical Caribbean vegetarian dishes (costs of meals are not included in the room rate). Please visit our Meals page for more details. We have free and very fast Wifi in all rooms and all common areas.

The Garden
Cocoa Cottage is beautifully located on a lush piece of land about 1 acre in size. Our Main House and the Honeymoon Suite and our Patchouli Room are sitting at the top of a hill, facing a valley with a small stream running at the bottom of the valley. The Tree House is located further down the stream, about 100 m away from the Main House. Our garden is not only beautiful, it also serves as our source for herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Our guests are welcome to spend time in the garden, or on our large open patio.

Our Surroundings
Hiking and Sight Seeing
Cocoa Cottage is a short drive from the starting point of many beautiful hiking trails and lakes such as Trafalgar Falls, Middleham Falls, Freshwater Lake, Borie Lake, Boiling Lake, and Titou Gorge. We are close to the Waitukubuli National Trail segments 3-4 and to some superb canyons that can only be reached by ropes and are the ultimate adrenaline rush.
Diving, Snorkeling, and Free Diving
Dominica is also one of the top five dive destinations in the world. Dominica’s underwater world offers vertical walls, shallow coral gardens, also accessible simply by snorkeling or free diving from the shore, and unusual marine life. A short 25 min drive from the cottage and you are in Soufriere, Scotts Head Marine Reserve, and Champagne Reef, known for its bubbly volcanic gases. On Dominica, you also have the chance of seeing whales on Whale Watching trips all year round.
Shopping and Dining
Roseau, the quirky capital with its shops, restaurants and bars, farmers market, fish market, supermarkets, and banks is only 5 km away.
Canyoning
Our neighbor Extreme Dominica can take you on an adventure of a lifetime.
Sulfur Baths and Spa
After a long day of exploring, the hot springs of Wotten Waven, less than 10 minutes up the road, offer the perfect ending to your day.
